How to copy a YouTube description on Android
Expand the description on a public YouTube watch page and select the text, or paste the watch URL into Caption Copy to copy the title, the description, or both.
What you are copying
A YouTube “caption” search usually means the title plus the public description under the video — not closed captions or a transcript. Caption Copy follows that: it does not transcribe audio.
Copy from the YouTube app
- Open the public video.
- Tap the title area to expand the description.
- Press and hold to select, then Copy.
Long descriptions are slow to highlight. Timestamps and links make selection worse.
Copy with Caption Copy
Paste a public youtube.com/watch or youtu.be link. Caption Copy shows Title and Description as separate cards, with Copy title, Copy description, and Copy both.
- Copy the video link in YouTube, or share it into Caption Copy.
- Tap Get caption.
- Copy only the field you need.

Tips
- Unlisted or private videos may not return a description.
- Hashtag stripping is for TikTok/Instagram captions. YouTube uses the title and description fields instead.
Common mistakes
- Expecting auto-generated subtitles. Those are not what this flow returns.
- Pasting a channel URL instead of a video URL.
